  Okay yes the interior decorating isn't all that great, sometimes there aren't a lot of customers. It has the classic "flamboyant once upon a time in the Middle Ages" feel and the restaurant has a musty pretty gross smell when you walk in due to the old architecture. I also hear the dim sum and many of the dishes are only okay. However, it does some things REALLY well, so like many restaurants it's all about knowing what to order.
  
  The stewed (?) hotpot (?) fish (not sure the English name) Served over fire is REALLY really good! This is a Chinese classic dish that comes bubbling to the table when fish is baked and then served kinda in hotpot style with addons in broth/stew. We ordered the Grouper fish in Spicy broth (this dish tastes a lot better in my opinion when it's spicy, and they have a few different spicy options that I don't know how to translate). Add-ons included the pancake (which was my fav; yes super oily but it's crispy and really if you're eating healthy you're not eating this ), spam / luncheon meat (it's such a must in spicy broths!!), lotus root (super good after it boils for a while and flavour gets in), bean curd, rice (of course!! Otherwise it's too salty, but it does come with noodles) and I don't remember the rest. We also ordered fried tofu on the side and that was great too. Super authentic and delicious flavour.
  
  Service was also very friendly. I've never been to a Chinese restaurant where servers will frequently come of their own initiative to check by lifting the lid if the teapot is empty lol.
  
  Another reviewer mentioned transparency about receipt. He didn't hand us the receipt directly but rather did the math and gave us the final number to make it more convenient for us. However, the full receipt is available as well.
  
  Yum yum! Would definitely go back (definitely as a group) especially during colder months.

  Pretty crappy Chinese place in Chinatown. Have to walk up some stairs to get to. I went for dim Sum with my dad. Have a dim sum menu, but don't do dim sum carts. All of the meat was low quality. The best thing we got was the noodles.

  The two star rating is for their service. For the food quality I would give a Zero.  We ordered Ha gau (shrimp dumpling ) shrimp with parsley and a Cheong-fun (rice roll) with shrimp. it made no difference, they all came and tasted the same, just appeared different in shapes and sizes. Their House Special Chow-mien tasted very salty and oily and we could even taste MSG in this dish. The noodle was nothing particular to claim honor for their signature dish, i.e. a few pieces of sliced squid, chicken and scraps of veggie trimmings.
  
  However, service was impeccable and it did make up for the bad food in this remote town on Vancouver island.

  The worst chinese food I have ever had and they messed up our order TWICE! And the quality based on the price of the food is horrible, the atmosphere is ok but it is extremely hot in there even if it's extremely cold outside, needless to say I won't be coming back again!

  The young man who attended to us had a serious attitude issue. When we placed a take out order he wrote everything in Chinese and just demanded the $95. I asked him to kindly itemise so I know as to how he arrived at the total. Instead of doing so, he is asking me "why is it too expensive "??  His entire approach towards us was very discriminatory. Generally we would just walk away from the place. But the order was placed and the cc was charged. We did confront him about his attitude and subsequently he started behaving
